Over It

I passed the zombie flu on to A this weekend.  Luckily, she's tougher than I am, and continues to plow through it with school and basketball practices.  She should be over it in a day or two.

My mom visited this weekend.  A's team won their "pink out" basketball game friday night.

Yeah, 10 pts...A "shot for a cure".
Her team is undefeated for the season.  The state playoffs are just four weeks away.  Yes, I continue to live vicariously through my daughter (the coach just won't put me in).  Don't judge.

Saturday morning, I met a local running group for an easy two miles from our local running store. The catch? I had A drop me off. That meant I had almost 6 miles to run home after the meet up.  I'm so glad I did my long run this way.  Meeting some new running friends was great, but running home in the rain wasn't.  But, this was the best way to force the run.  I might have skipped it if running wasn't my only way home.  8.43 miles in 1:29:50.  Longest run in a few weeks, since RNR Arizona.

I usually run long on Sunday and rest on Saturday.  What a treat to have it done early in the weekend.  I took advantage of it and went for my first swim of 2013 on Sunday morning.  S decided to come with me.  Luckily, the pool wasn't too crowded (I'm still afraid of sharing a lane with someone other than S).    750 meters wears me out.  I look forward to building up my swimdurance.  My Christmas swimsuit is awesome.  I can hardly wait to swim again.  Hmmmm....a few more long run Saturdays are being planned.

Here's the plan for this week (adapted from Train Like a Mother)

Monday:  Yoga
Tuesday: Rest (just too much going on with work and a basketball game)
Wednesday: 6 miles
Thursday: 3 miles (10 min warmup, 6x45 seconds at zone 4, 10 min cool down)
Friday: 3 miles
Saturday: 9 miles (or more, hoping to meet up with some buddies who are training for a full)
Sunday: Rest or Swim

Do you have a training plan?  How's it going?

Love the idea of the pink out! I agree...sometimes the best way to get in the miles is if you have no other choice! The other day I ran to a friends house...10 miles away and the only way to get there was on foot! I couldn't call for a ride and still save face!! Great job!

How exciting for A!!!! You must be so proud of her! I hope that she feels better soon too, sounds like she has a good immune system. :-)

That's pretty hardcore, being dropped off with the only way home via running! Impressive. :)

YAY for A! Hope she recovers from the zombie flu fast... if she can make it to school, she must have super powers.

love the dropoff/forced to run home! S swims too? Is there anything that man doesn't do? I can't imagine sharing a swim lane - I'm so spoiled at my gym... hee hee.
